One method of getting the defiant child to work is to give them two choices. The first choice is the assignment you want them to do and the second choice is an easier assignment. Of course the child is going to take the easier assignment. By making choices they feel empowered and have a sense of being in control of the situation. The defiance should stop there and the work completed is the result.

When the next study period comes into play, the teacher or parent has a chance to become the master manipulator. When the child becomes defiant when given a new assignment give them two choices again. This time the second choice could be the assignment that the child refused to do the day before. Again, empowerment comes into play and the child will usually pick the previous assignment that they refused to do the first time around. This is a win-win situation for both the student and the teacher. The teacher gets the work completed without rebellion and the student learns the content though it is not in the order the teacher planned.

Do not get into a power struggle. The student will be defiant if he or she chooses, but then it becomes an issue for the administration or the special education teacher assigned to them. Two choices works at home as well as at school.

Games In Your PC

Do You Want Download Games in your PC now ?? yeah i have 1000 games for your Pc. All of us are continually engaged in one self-directed activity or another.

It's undeniable. The human race was created to live a creative life. Whether it's on the computer, pursuing a hobby, sport, or even designing our home, we are constantly striving to increase our expertise in some area of our life.

Strangely enough though, most of us do this only in our free time. We separate our work from our passion. Our daily aim is to accomplish the requirements imposed by others, and in our free time we pursue the requirements of our heart.

It doesn't have to be that way. Your passion can become your career. You can be an expert in anything you want to if you learn to master the art of self-directed learning.

Self-directed learning has a lot of benefits. These are only seven of them:

You choose the content. Contrary to a curriculum designed by experts, you can pick and choose what you are going to learn, and who you are going to learn from, according to your personal level of knowledge and unique preferences.

You determine the schedule. You can adapt your learning process to your personal agenda, without depending on time schedules imposed by others.

You learn with passion. Since you are pursuing the topic that has always burnt in your heart, there is no place for boredom. Your main occupation in life should be fun!

Self-directed learning produces a deep sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. You are engaged in what you were created to do!

Self-directed learning will eventually lead to a productive life. After a season of delving into a subject with passion, the fruit will start to show. You will have gained a level of expertise.

At this point you will naturally develop entrepreneurial skills. Now that you are an expert in your field, others will look to you for help, and be willing to pay for it too!

The inevitable step is financial freedom. Voilá, your passion has become your career!

I'd like to invite you to go for it! Basically these puzzles are a grid of letters containing various words placed in all types of directions (from left to right, from right to left, up and down the page, and in each of the various diagonal directions). Additionally, the words can overlap too, and any unused squares in the grid are filled with a randomly chosen letter.

The player's goal is of course, to find the words hidden in the letter grid, and circle each of these words. Often players will be told exactly what words to look for, but in more difficult puzzles, the designer may simply give the player a hint as to the type or subject matter of the words (for example, "countries in Europe").

Like jigsaw puzzles, sudoku, kakuro, crosswords and other types of puzzles, a lot of people enjoy word search puzzle as a recreational activity. It can be a pleasant distraction to hunt down those words! Moreover, since players need to place attention to words and their exact spelling, these puzzles are becoming increasingly popular with teachers, especially teachers of K-12 education and the English as a second language (ESL).

You can create word search yourself using nothing more than a pen and paper, but it can take you a long time! If you want to make some of these puzzles, the best answer is to use the computer - with the right software, it's a piece of cake: type a list of words and a puzzle can be generated automatically for you in a few seconds. As well as varying your word list, using software will also allow you to experiment with placing words in different orientations. and create different size and shap puzzles.

By S. It almost seems like D-Day has come when the heavens will fall and all ell will break loose. The constant rebukes of parents who will probably remind you for the rest of the year how you need to catch up on lagging grades if you need to pass and how they want you to do better in school than the girl next door start reverberating in your ears even before the d day arrives.

The irony of the situation is that teachers are also not too fond of the report card day. It is like a deadline pending on them. A day by which they need to complete all the calculations and assessments! They also need to enter the details in each and every report card for the students and then write comments for all the students. It sure can be a gargantuan task.

These days however, there are software packages available that help in report card making. If the school that you work in does not provide one, it is suggested that you go ahead and buy one for yourself. The amount of extra time that you may find on your hands may be well worth its while. This software require you to just enter the raw information and will then calculate all the averages, percentiles and any such measure that you may want to.

On the other hand there is should be attempts by the teachers, students and parents together to try and not make the report card day a terror. This is a day when you should be evaluating your child's progress and understanding where your role starts in the developmental process. Hounding your children about their performance will not lead you anywhere. The grades will not become good all of a sudden and the mental capacity of your child will not increase by nagging.

Instead, you need to understand that there are different people and discovering the kind of person your child is will help you a lot. Try and figure out what interests your child the maximum. It is also possible that your child may be an intelligent person but just not academically oriented.

If you feel that you child is extremely dedicated to studies and is sincere about completing lessons and doing homework but yet is unable to get good marks, you should explore other possibilities. Try and see whether concentrating on a thing for a long time is the issue. Learning disabilities could be another issue. The problem may be a simple one and may have to do with weak eyesight or hearing capacity. The solution to that obviously is very simple but you may never be able to find that out unless you try and do some investigation.

The most important thing, however, is that you need to stop making report cards a monster and try and view them in a positive light.

Discover more articles and information about kids and school report cards at http://kids-tips.com

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Scotie_Keithlow

Charter Schools For The Spread of Education

In the United States of America, a very common feature is the charter schools. It is to be noted that while charter schools are a variant of public schools, there are certain essential differences. The charter schools are those which do not have to resort to the necessary rules and regulations that are essential for the public schools to follow in exchange of some form of liability by producing certain results which are codified in the school's charter. Charter schools are usually funded as well as founded by those who feel that the medium of education and imparting of knowledge within the stipulated boundaries of traditional public schools are not enough to determine the development of the child. In most cases, it is the activists, teachers, even parents and non profit organizations who usually join hands to lead the foundation of these charter schools.

It is interesting to note that since these charter schools are excluded from any form of allegiance to the norms that guide the public schools, these usually function as autonomous organizations that set down their own codes of rule. Therefore, they can exercise a certain amount of flexibility in terms of their running of the charter schools. In terms of the syllabi and the teaching techniques incorporated by the charter schools, there is no form of restriction and they are free to experiment using newer and innovative techniques. However, all this relaxations have a single purpose which is laid down in the school's charter. The charter schools are required to prove their mettle and perform better than the traditional public schools.

The most important component with reference to the functioning of charter schools is the charter itself. The charter of the school consists of the programs, aims and rues and regulations that are considered to be of prime necessity by the school authorities. The charter schools are primarily answerable to a single authority which may be the state education authority, local school boards etc. The charter is issued by a chartering authority and this authority usually varies from state to state in the United States of America. While in some states it is the state education department which issues the charter, in some it may be local school district while non profit organizations may also be the chartering authorities. There are also certain for-profit organizations which act as the chartering authority. But evidences have proved that such fro-profit schools have in most cases failed to outshine the performance of the traditional public schools, despite receiving greater funds.

Get an online degree to advance your career today.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Roberts_Bairds

Alternative Schools For The Spread of Education

Schools are academic institutions dedicated to the imparting of knowledge among the students and are also organizations that encourage the development of the personality and psychology of the child. Therefore it is natural that the schools play a very fundamental role in the growth of the child or the student and therefore school education is essential and a right of every child. If one follows the mode of education in a traditional school, the students are required to visit the school at a particular time of the day following a pre-given routine and then spend a few hours in the school. Schools are not only to convey educational knowledge but at the same time also encourage other forms of extracurricular activities as well.

In general the schools follow a set curriculum which is devised in keeping with the motto of the school and in most schools the means of imparting education are more or less similar. However, there are certain educational institutions that encourage the usage of newer innovative modes and techniques in order to make the educational experience an exciting one instead of the usual monotonous way of learning. Such schools are popularly referred to as alternative schools or minischools. In most cases, it has been observed that these alternative schools follow a different pattern of educational curriculum than those practiced commonly in the traditional schools and these study programs are not as rigid as those of the traditional schools. Since they are more flexible, the amount of pressure on the child is also lesser.

Alternative schools were introduced in the United States of America in the seventh decade of the 19 th century and during these years the main purpose of setting up these alternative schools was to ensure that there could be established a different mode of learning moving away from the traditions and consciousness of the traditional schooling system. Many of these alternative schools provided extremely philosophical and scholarly orientations while some were dipped in political color. But in all cases, there were certain innovative features being introduced for the cause of imparting education.

It is to be noted that in the United States of America especially, the term alternative school has been used as a broad term and there are many educational institutions which fall under its umbrella like the independent schools, home schooling etc. It can also at times refer to institutions providing alternative education. Special schools which are dedicated to the service of students having psychological disorders or behavioral problems are also included under this category.

Get an online degree to advance your career today.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Roberts_Bairds

Mathematics Bingo

In general, most teachers and parents are fully aware of how just important and valuable a good understanding of mathematics can be. The subject of maths underlies, and indeed forms a foundation for, many academic subjects, as well as underpinning countless aspects of everyday life ranging from science and techology, to business and commerce, and even including the seemingly mundane such as household finances. The first branch of math that most students encounter is of course arithmetic. Arithmetic begins with counting, and then progresses to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Most math teachers know that the best way for students to improve at mathematics, is for them to regularly practice solving mathematical problems. The challenge that teachers of course face is how to make practicing the same activity again and again, always seem new, interesting and engaging to students. One technique that many teachers use, is to integrate educational games into their lessons - provided the games are carefully chosen, students can learn while having fun! There are many different games that teachers can use, but one game that is particularly suitable for use in the class is that old standard, bingo.

There are a huge variety ways that the game of bingo can be integrated into math classes - one of the attractions is that the game is that it can be easily adapted to different situations. Probably the most popular way of playing bingo in math classes, is for the teacher to play the part of the bingo caller, and the students to be each given a printed bingo card containing mathematics problems. The goal remains to get a line of 5 items marked off, but instead of simply crossing off items as they are called, the students must fill them in with the correct answers.

Of course you won't be able to play math bingo unless you have suitable materials - the main thing that you need being bingo cards printed with mathematical problems. Fortunately, that problem is easily solved - you can easily print bingo cards from your computer, either by using free ready-to-use math bingo printables, or by getting some easy-to-use bingo card generating software.

By S.
